Connecting Your Google Business Profile

Connecting your Google Business Profile to FigureOut is the primary configuration step in your account setup. This guide explains the OAuth 2.0 connection procedure, how to resolve common connection errors, and what to do when the Google authorization screen prompts for unrecognized permissions.

1. Prerequisite: Verified Google Business Profile Listing

Before connecting your profile to FigureOut, ensure that:

  • Your business listing is verified on Google Maps (a green verification badge should appear in the GBP Manager console).
  • The Google account you are logging in with is the Owner or Manager of the listing. Site-wide View Only access cannot authorize API write operations.

2. Connection Steps

1

Open Locations Manager

In your FigureOut dashboard sidebar, click Locations.

2

Click "Connect Google Business Profile"

The orange CTA button initiates the secure OAuth 2.0 handshake.

3

Authorize on Google's Consent Screen

Review the requested permissions and click "Allow". Ensure you select the correct Google account if you have multiple accounts.

4

Select Your Location(s)

After redirect, FigureOut displays all verified listings. Select the location(s) you want to connect and click "Activate Sync".

3. Troubleshooting Common Connection Errors

Error: "Access Denied - Insufficient Permissions"

This error occurs when the Google account authorized does not have Owner or Manager permissions on the connected GBP listing. Log into business.google.com and confirm your access level before reconnecting.

Error: "No Verified Locations Found"

The authorized Google account does not have any verified Google Business Profile listings. You must have at least one GBP listing with a confirmed verification badge on the account.

Error: "Token Expired — Reconnection Required"

Google OAuth tokens have a defined expiry period. If the refresh token becomes invalid (user revoked access or the token expired), you must re-initiate the OAuth connection. Navigate to the Locations panel and click Reconnect on the affected location.

4. Revoking FigureOut Access

To revoke FigureOut's API access to your Google Business Profile:

  • Inside FigureOut: Go to Locations, click "Disconnect" on the target location.
  • From Google directly: Navigate to myaccount.google.com/permissions, find "FigureOut", and click "Remove Access".
