How to Claim Google Business Profile Without a Postcard

Waiting 14 to 28 days for a physical Google verification postcard to arrive in India or international markets often leads to frustration. In many cases, mail carriers fail to deliver postcards, addresses are difficult to navigate, or the 5-digit verification PIN expires before it reaches your business desk. Fortunately, Google now supports multiple digital and instant verification channels for eligible business categories.

1. Instant Phone or SMS Verification

For established businesses where Google has already scraped trustworthy directory data (such as corporate registrations, telecom databases, or older Maps listings), Google frequently offers instant phone verification:

• Log in to the Google account associated with your business and navigate to Google Business Profile Manager.
• Select your location and click "Verify".
• If eligible, choose "Phone or SMS". You will receive an automated 6-digit code via text message or automated voice call within 30 seconds.
• Enter the PIN into your console to achieve immediate verified status.

2. Live Video Recording Verification (Most Common in 2026)

Live video recording is now Google's primary verification protocol when postal delivery is unavailable or unreliable. You record a single, continuous, unedited video directly through the Google Maps app showing three essential pillars:

1. Location & Context: Capture your outside street name, nearby permanent landmarks, and official building exterior showing your permanent storefront signage.
2. Business Equipment & Operations: Walk into the establishment showing operating workspaces, point-of-sale systems, branded tools, or product inventory.
3. Proof of Management: Show yourself unlocking the primary entrance with keys, opening the cash register, accessing employee-only areas, or displaying legal registration documents (such as GST certificates or business licenses).

3. Instant Verification via Google Search Console (GSC)

If your business website is already verified under the same Google account in Google Search Console, Google will often automatically grant instant verification to your Business Profile. To ensure this triggers:

• Ensure the primary website URL entered on your GBP exactly matches the verified domain property in Search Console (including matching https:// and www protocols).
• Use the exact same administrative Google account for both properties.

4. Direct Google Support Escalation with Official Documentation

If your profile only prompts for postcard verification and repeated attempts have failed:

• Open the Google Business Profile Help Center and initiate a support ticket under "Verification Issues".
• Submit high-resolution photographs of your permanent exterior signage and municipal utility bills (electricity, water, or telephone bills issued within the last 60 days in your business name).
• Attach your government business registration (e.g. GST registration, MSME Udyam, or Certificate of Incorporation) proving commercial occupancy.
